Labyrinths date back thousands of years and have been a significant part of many cultures. They are used symbolically as a walking reflection or mediation. Here at High Meadows, our labyrinth is used to meditate in a quiet, natural setting. Walking a labyrinth often gives a chance to look inward, as you change your outward perspective on your surroundings by turning and moving.
Our goal for the High Meadows labyrinth is for it to be a place of reflection on the values and attitudes taught in our programs: creativity, caring, appreciation, curiosity, tolerance, respect, cooperation, enthusiasm, confidence, empathy, and commitment The steppingstones at the entrance, which have these words on them, are an invitation to those who visit to consider one of these qualities as they walk the labyrinth.
