The tire swing tree has been a symbol of High Meadows for many years. It stands for what our school founders encouraged – imagination, friendship, and responsible risk taking. The original tire swing tree was a Box Elder located in front of the preschool building. After many years of service to thousands of students, it succumbed to disease and was removed in 2000. The diseased interior of Box Elders has a red sap and when it was cut, it was said to bleed because it was so well loved by all the children who had ever climbed its branches and swung on the tire swing. Our new tire swing tree was dedicated on Arbor Day 2000. Watch the video to learn the whole story of our tire swing.
